The capture and analysis of video images taken several times a day throughout the year over several years make it possible to identify the different phenological stages of a plant (foliage, flowering, fruiting, autumn leaf fall, etc.) and to obtain a time series of vegetation indices that can be compared with the main meteorological factors.

Applied to some varieties of the Lemoine collection of the Jean-Marie Pelt Botanical Garden, this method makes it possible to monitor the interannual variability of lilac phenology in a fully automated manner, making it a tool for long-term monitoring of local and regional climate fluctuations.
