The flora from the North-American mountains are confined to the high part of the garden. Phlox, Lewisia, Penstemon, aquilegias, irises and crimson beebalm share the stage.  Elsewhere, around the source of the Vologne river, several species invade the area (lupins, Asian bleeding heart, Mimulus, irises) and mix with other plants that also prosper admirably here, such as the aconite-leaf buttercup, Rodgersia from Japan, American yellow skunk cabbage...
