Phenological monitoring in the Jardins botaniques du Grand Nancy et de l'Université de Lorraine

phenological monitoring

The capture and analysis of video images taken several times a day throughout the year and over several years allows us to monitor the different phenological stages of a plant (leafing, flowering, fruit-bearing, leaf fall, etc.) and to have a long-term series of plant indicators that may be compared with the main meteorological factors.

Applied to certain cultivars in Jean-Marie Pelt Botanical Gardens Lemoine Collection, this method allows us to automatically monitor the year-on-year variability of the phenology of lilacs to construct a long-term monitoring system for local and regional climate fluctuations.
